About this time of year, we remember what happened in the previous year and look forward to the new year. A part of remembering the past year is to learn from our successes and failures. Then we change priorities, make improvements and plan for success in the coming year.
After the election of Donald Trump, 2017 promised to be confrontational but never dull. Change started with the cabinet, federal judges, regulations and taxes. The liberal press, blue states, bureaucracy, entertainment and universities were in full revolt. Donald Trump told FBI Director James Comey, "Your fired!" Washington investigated Trump's collusion with Russia but who was investigating the investigators? Justice was usurped by the court of public opinion and the swamp is alive and well in Washington.
Blessed is the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: And he changes the times and the seasons: he removes kings, and sets up kings: he gives wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding (
Daniel 2:20-21).
There were many significant events outside of Washington. In 2017, the
Blood Moons continued on minor Jewish days. The Great American
Eclipse traveled from Oregon to South Carolina. The Sun, Moon, planets and stars aligned into the
Revelation 12 sign. Hurricanes swamped south Texas, Florida and the Caribbean. There were major earthquakes in Mexico, Iran, Italy and China. Terrorist struck in Nevada, New York and Texas.
You shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that you are not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows (
Matthew 24:6-8).
