On August 1, 1914 (9th of Av (Kadesh Barnea), World War I begins when Germany declares war on Russia starting 120 years of modern warfare (~1914-2034). On April 6, 1917 (15th of Nisan, Unleavened Bread), United States declares war on Germany. The first war of land, sea and air is between white, red, black and green horses (Revelation 6:1-2, 3-4, 5-6,7-8). The 1st trumpet lists hail, fire and blood describing brutal war of trench warfare, scorched earth and chemical weapons.

Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it [the Promised Land]; for we are well able to overcome it. But the men that went up with him said, We are not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we (Numbers 13:30-31).

During the 2nd trumpet, John writes a third of ships sink, battles of the Atlantic and Pacific. He sees a burning mountain, known as a mushroom cloud. On July 23, 1942 (9th of Av, Kadesh Barnea). Germany begin transporting Polish Jews to extermination camp. Red and black horses rise to superpowers (Revelation 6:3-4, 5-6).

In 1945, France, Soviet Union, United Kingdom, United States divide the Germany leopard, wounding the ten horned Beast. NATO and Warsaw Pact divide Europe. On November 9, 1989 (11th of Heshvan, Noah), the Berlin Wall falls. On October 3, 1990 (15th of Tishri, Tabernacles), Germany and Europe are reunited healing the deadly wound (Revelation 6:3-4, 5-6).

On April 26, 1986 (17th of Nisan, Unleavened Bread), Chernobyl reactor 4 powers down for a test but causes a catastrophic failure. This occurs during the Cold War (1945-1990) between red and black horses (Revelation 6:3-4, 5-6). Chernobyl, Ukraine in the former Soviet Union is named mugwort or common wormwood, a bitter plant. During the 3rd trumpet, John sees a star-like object falling from the sky. The reactor overheats causing a steam explosion that blows the 1000-ton lid off the reactor. A second explosion caused a graphite inferno causing a nuclear meltdown. The Soviet Union evacuates 3.5 million people from Belarus and Ukraine and use 600,000 liquidators to contain the reactor. It rains in Europe and Western Asia for a week, poisoning fresh water. The name of the star is Chernobyl.

On the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the Lord: seven days you must eat unleavened bread (Leviticus 23:6).

The  third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter (Revelation 8:10-11).

On July 2, 1776, the Second Continental Congress votes for independence but on July 4, 1776 (17th of Tammuz), they adopt the Declaration of Independence. The United States was born on the day of the Golden Calf.

It came to pass, as soon as [Moses] came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount (Exodus 32:19).

The Constitution was adopted on Monday, September 17, 1787 (5th of Tishri, Teshuvah/Days of Awe). On June 21, 1788, New Hampshire was ninth to approve, which is the minimum to ratify the Constitution. Rhode Island was the last state to approve on May 29, 1790. Teshuvah is forty days of repentance (1st of Elul-10th of Tishri). As Moses is on Mt. Sinai, so each year the people repent to prepare for the high holy days of Trumpets and Atonement.

In 1867, American author, Mark Twain, takes a trip to Europe and the Middle East and writes a daily travel letters for two newspapers compiled in The Innocents Abroad. He arrives in Jerusalem in the Ottoman Empire on September 23 (23rd of Elul/9/11/Teshuvah) and leaves on September 30 (Trumpets, 1st of Tishri). He says the holy land is desolate. Then God brings His people back to the Promised Land (Deuteronomy 30:1-3).

Iraq attempts to bring Israel into the war by shooting thirty-nine Scud missiles but God protects His people (Psalm 91:4-6, 7-8). On February, 28, 1991 (14th of Adar, Purim), war ends with 613 oil fires that darken the region for eight months.

John uses eight similes to describe modern warfare (AH-64D Apache helicopters). Saddam means destroyer and he is literally found in a pit.
