The Dome of the Rock on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem

After World War I when Palestine was under British control, the United States encouraged a new Jewish state. In 1922, Congress passed a resolution supporting "the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people". Since 1948, Israel-Palestine peace has been a primary American foreign policy goal for the Middle East. Despite plenty of effort and proposals, the peace process stalls out during wars and conflicts in the region.

God that made the world and all things, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwells not in temples made with hands; And has made of one blood all nations of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined the appointed times, and the boundaries of their lands; That they should seek the Lord (Acts 17:24, 26-27).
Harry Truman

After World War II, many countries wanted to give Israel reparations because of the Jewish Holocaust caused by Germany. On the 5th of Iyar (May 14, 1948), the British mandate ended and Israel declared independence. Under Truman, the United States was the first country to recognize Israel. The Arab-Israeli War began one day later. At the end of the war, Israel controlled most of the territory (Green Line) while Egypt took Gaza and Jordan took Judea and Samaria (West Bank). During this time, Truman focused on containing the Soviet Union and access to Middle East oil.

This government has been informed that a Jewish state has been proclaimed in Palestine, and recognition has been requested by the provisional government thereof. The United States recognizes the provisional government as the de facto authority of the new State of Israel.
----US President Harry Truman

Dwight Eisenhower

Eisenhower balanced American interests in the Middle East while promoting peace and stability in the region. In 1956 when Egypt took control of the Suez Canal, France, United Kingdom and Israel invaded Sinai. The US and USSR forced Israel to retreat. The Eisenhower Doctrine promised military and economic aid to any Middle Eastern country that needed help resisting communist aggression.

John Kennedy

Kennedy was committed to Israel's national security. He ended the arms embargo and founded the US-Israeli military alliance. He also confronted Israel about their nuclear development. American Jews built a memorial in Jerusalem.

Dedicated as an eternal expression of American-Israel friendship on the fourth of July, 1966…

Lyndon Johnson

Johnson policy favored Israel but tried to stay neutral during war. In 1964 the PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) formed. In 1967, Egyptian President Gamal Nasser closed the Straits of Tiran. In the 1967 Six Days War, Egypt, Jordan and Syria fought Israel. However, Israel captured Gaza, Judea and Samaria (West Bank of Jordan), Golan Heights and Sinai. Jerusalem was reunited on June 7, 1967 (28th of Iyar/Ascension). During the war, Israel torpedoed the USS Liberty, an intelligence ship in Egyptian waters. After the war, Egypt allied with the Soviets.

Richard Nixon

Nixon attempted peace between Egypt and Israel but failed. In 1969, Yasser Arafat became leader of the PLO which hindered peace for the next thirty-five years. In 1973, Egypt and Syria attacked Israel on the Day of Atonement. The Soviets sent weapons to Egypt and Syria so the US sent weapons and supplies to Israel which saved the nation from catastrophe. The Yom Kippur War started with Egypt advancing into Sinai but after Israeli gains, war ended without changes to territory. Because of American support for Israel, OPEC (Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries) increased oil prices and declared an embargo. The oil crisis lasted five months.

Gerald Ford

After the war and disagreement with Israel's occupation of the Sinai, Ford reassessed the relationship with Israel. In 1975, the US negotiated an agreement between Egypt and Israel to strengthen the 1973 ceasefire.
Jimmy Carter

The Camp David Accords focused on peace with Egypt, Israel and Palestine. Israel agreed to withdraw from Sinai and Egypt was the first Arab nation to recognize Israel. Although Carter supported a Palestinian state, no progress was made. In 1981, Egyptian President Anwar Sadat was assassinated on October 6th (Days of Awe).

Ronald Regan

The Reagan administration strengthened military ties with Israel, increased weapon sales, held joint military exercise and stockpiled weapons in Israel. During the 1982 Lebanon War, the PLO attacked Northern Israel. Israel invaded Lebanon and removed the PLO. America was part of a peace keeping force during the Lebanese Civil War until the 1983 United States embassy bombing. In 1985, Iranian and Syrian backed Hezbollah fought Israel and Lebanese Christians. Conflict lasted fifteen years. In 1987, the First Intifada in Israel lasted five years.

George Bush

During Iraq War I (Persian Gulf War) after Iraq invaded Kuwait, Bush urged Israeli restraint to protect the Middle East coalition again Iraq. The US rushed anti-missile weapons to defend Israel from Scud missiles. In 1991 Madrid Peace Conference, Israel, Jordan-Palestine, Lebanon and Syria assembled. China and seventeen other countries recognized Israel because of negotiations or collapse of the Soviet Union. The US linked financial aid to Israel with a freeze of new settlements in Judea and Gaza so Israel stopped most new settlements.
Bill Clinton

Clinton actively pursued Middle East peace. In the 1993 Oslo Accord, Israel agreed to withdraw from Gaza and Jericho and the Palestinian Authority gained limited self-government. In 1994, Jordan and Israel signed a peace treaty. In the 1995 Oslo II Accord, Palestinians rule eight major cities in Judea. A month later, Israel Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated. In 1998 after terrorist attacks, the peace process stopped and Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu halted implication. At the 2000 Camp David Summit, Clinton came closest to final peace. Israel PM Ehud Barak offered ninety-five percent of Judea and Samaria but Yasser Arafat refused. The Second Intifada began and lasted five years.

George W. Bush

During Bush, various wars overcame peace. During the Second Intifada, Israel built a security barrier to protect Israeli settlements. To get Arabic countries to support Iraq War II, Daniel's Quartet on the Middle East (European Union-Germany leopard, Russia bear, United Nations-United Kingdom lion, United States eagle), proposed the Roadmap for Peace. After Saddam Hussein and the Sunni minority were overthrown, Shites ruled Iraq. In 2004, Yasser Arafat died and Mahmoud Abbas became leader. In 2005, Israel evacuated settlements in Gaza and Samaria. In 2006 Palestinian elections, radical Fatah (Islamic Expansion/PLO) lost to more radical Hamas (Islamic Resistance Movement). Hamas ruled Gaza and Fatah ruled Judea. In 2006 Lebanon War, Hezbollah and Israel fought. In 2008, the Gaza War started with Hamas firing rockets into Israel.

There is a direct correlation between "land for peace" and judgment from God. In August 2005, the Quartet pressured Israel to evacuate twenty-one settlements from Gaza and four settlements in Samaria. On August 13, 2005 or the 9th of Av (Kadesh Barnea), Tropical Depression Ten formed and dissipated. On August 23, remnants developed into Tropical Depression Twelve. Hurricane Katrina crossed south Florida and devastated the upper gulf coast states of Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi. Later that year, PM Sharon suffered a severe stroke. In 2006, Bush lost majorities in the House and Senate. The consequences of Middle East peace are the fall of America, the Tribulation and Armageddon. See Jewish Calendar.

I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat [in Jerusalem]. There I will enter into judgment against them concerning my inheritance, my people Israel, for they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land. (Joel 3:2 NIV).

Barack Obama

In 2009, Obama became more sympathetic to Muslims over Jews and Christians. This and expanding settlements in Judea strained relations with Israeli PM Netanyahu. In 2011 Arab Spring, protests and riots throughout the region led to rulers overthrown in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia while civil wars started in Syria and Yemen. After Obama's withdraw from Iraq, the Islamic State filled the void and took control of eastern Iraq and western Syria. In 2012 and 2014 Israel-Gaza conflicts, Hamas fired rockets into Israel. In 2015, Netanyahu spoke to the US Congress against Obama's Iranian policy. The Iran Nuclear Agreement. Trump Agreement empowered our Shite enemies (Iran, Iraq, Syria) but harmed our Sunni allies (Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia). In 2016, Obama allowed UN Resolution 2334, making Israeli settlements in Judea and Samaria illegal.
Donald Trump

Trump moved the US embassy to Jerusalem. He recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights and exited the Iran Nuclear Agreement. Trump promised to support a two-state solution and his Senior Advisor, orthodox Jew and son-in-law Jared Kushner, was assigned to Middle East peace and trade. "The deal of the century" is called Peace to Prosperity. The economic plan was released on June 22, 2019 and the political portion was released on January 28, 2020. Israel and Palestine will divide the land into separate nations without uprooting people. In September 2020, Jordan valley annexation was delayed but the Abraham Accords esablished Israeli peace and trade with Bahrain, Moracco, Sudan and United Arab Emirates. As part of prophecy, Trump took a hard stance on Chinese trade. See Covenant.

Joe Biden

Biden's foreign policy is trying to play both sides in the Middle East. They want to revive the
Iran Nuclear Agreement
by cancelling sanctions on Iran oil and giving five billion dollars in frozen Iranian money for five American hostages. But Iran is a terrorist nation that supports terrorist proxies Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebenon and Houthis in Yemen.

On Saturday, October 7, 2023 (8th Day of the Assembly), Hamas brutally targeted civilians of Israel and other nations, shot 6000+ missiles, massacred over 1,400, raped women and kidnapped 240+. This is the worst attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust. The United States pledged full support for Israel by sending two aircraft carrier strike groups while trying to constrain Israel's war on terrors and push the two-state solution.

Passing seventy-five years, Israel has been a strong democracy and important ally in the Middle East. Jerusalem, the City of Peace, has been anything but peaceful. As US presidents and diplomats divide Israel, we will see this path of peace become even more treacherous.

Behold, I [God] will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth are gathered together against it (Zechariah 12:2-3).
