Israel is a small country of over eight million people and is about the size of New Jersey. It has a good economy and stable democracy in the Middle East. A close ally with the United States, Israel has a strong military and membership in the nuclear club. Israel has little global influence but God choose Abraham and his decedents to be His people and bless the world.

For you are an holy people unto the Lord your God: the Lord your God has chosen you to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because you were more in number than any people; for you were the fewest of all people: But because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, has the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt (Deuteronomy 7:6-7, 8).

At the beginning of World War I, the Promised Land was controlled by the Ottoman Turks. British General Edmund Allenby captured Jerusalem on December 9, 1918. Two days later on the 25th of Kislev (Hanukkah), he walked into Jerusalem in honor of the Holy City. After 400 years of Ottoman control, the League of Nations divided the land and the United Kingdom took control on September 26, 1923 or the 16th of Tishri during Tabernacles.

After World War II, many countries were sympathetic to a homeland for the Jews because of the Holocaust caused by Germany. On the 5th of Iyar (May 14, 1948), the British mandate ended. After two thousand years of Gentile control, Israel became an independent nation. The United States was the first country to recognize Israel. Palestinians refused their land and the Arab-Israeli War began one day later. At the end of the war, Israel controlled most of the territory (Green Line). Egypt took Gaza, Jordan took Judea and Samaria (West Bank) leaving Palestians nothing.

Who has heard such a thing? who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion [Israel] travailed, she brought forth her children (Isaiah 66:8).

This government has been informed that a Jewish state has been proclaimed in Palestine, and recognition has been requested by the provisional government thereof. The United States recognizes the provisional government as the de facto authority of the new State of Israel.

In May 1967, Egypt blockaded the Straits of Tiran and Israeli access to the Red Sea. In June, Israel retaliated against Egypt and the Six Day War began. Egypt, Jordan and Syria had double the army but Israel destroyed the Egyptian air force and quickly gained air superiority. In less than a week, Israel captured Gaza, Judea and Samaria (West Bank of Jordan), Golan Heights and Sinai. Jerusalem was reunited on June 7, 1967 (28th of Iyar/Ascension).

In that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth are gathered together against it (Zechariah 12:3).

In seventy years, Israel transformed the desert into a lush garden and the nation into a prosperous economy with a strong military. Many Jews immigrated back to their homeland. Israel has been in eight wars with the Arab cousins and continually deals with Islamic terrorism. Only Egypt and Jordan recognize Israel's right to exist. One of many roadblocks to Middle East peace is border disputes with the Palestine territory and Syria. The Quartet on the Middle East (UN lion, US eagle, Russian bear, EU leopard) is working with Israel and Palestine on the peace process for the Covenant.

For the Lord shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody (Isaiah 51:3).

On December 6, 2017, the United States was the first country to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital. On May 14, 2018, the embassy will move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem which corresponds with the 70th anniversary of the State of Israel and 51st anniversary of Jerusalem united under Israeli control. A permanent embassy will be built later.

I have determined that it is time to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Israel is a sovereign nation with the right like every other sovereign nation to determine its own capital.  It was seventy years ago that the United States, under President Truman, recognized the State of Israel.  Ever since then, Israel has made its capital in the city of Jerusalem - the capital the Jewish people established in ancient times.
---- US President Donald Trump

David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David [Jerusalem] with gladness (2 Samuel 6:12).

Through the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, God used Israel to bless all the nations by writing His Word, sending Jesus the Messiah and giving salvation to both Jews and Gentiles. Of all the nations, Israel is the least likely to conquer the world. At the end of the Tribulation after their last minute conversion, Israel will be the only nation standing after Jesus Christ returns at His Second Coming.

I [God] will take you [Israel] from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you. And you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and you shall be my people, and I will be your God (Ezekiel 36:24, 26, 28).

There is a reason why so many prophecies are being fulfilled before the Tribulation. Israel is at the center of God's plan of redemption. What is the length of a generation? Some say forty years but the average lifespan is between seventy and eighty years. The generation that saw Israel become a nation will not pass away.

The days of our years are seventy years; and if by reason of strength they be eighty years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away (Psalm 90:10).

When you shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. (Matthew 24:33-34).
