Aswan Dam Power Plant Wikipedia

Eighty-five percent of water in the Nile River comes from Ethiopia. In 2020, the huge five-billion-dollar Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam opened. It produces 2.5 times more electric power than the Aswan Dam. Now Ethiopia controls the Blue Nile and water flowing into Egypt and Sudan.

The prophecy says "The day of the Lord" which points to the Tribulation as the time of the heathen. At the middle of the Tribulation, Jesus told those in Judea (West Bank) to flee (Matthew 24:15-16). The list of counties is similar to World War IV when Russia unites with radical Islam starts a war with Israel. Egypt and Syria are not mentioned in the list of nations in Ezekiel 38.

For the day is near, even the day of the Lord is near, a cloudy day; it shall be the time of the heathen. And the sword shall come upon Egypt, and great pain shall be in Ethiopia, when the slain shall fall in Egypt, and they shall take away her multitude, and her foundations shall be broken down. Ethiopia, and Libya, and Lydia [Turkey], and all the mingled people, and Chub [Arabia?], and the men of the land that is in league, shall fall with them by the sword (Ezekiel 30:3-4, 5).

In the 1980s, MK Yigal Allon of Israel's Labour Party stated if Egypt attacked Israel, the Aswan Dam could be a target. In 2001, MK Avigdor Lieberman of Israel Our Home Party said if Israel was threatened, Israel could bomb the Aswan Dam.

A dam can fail because of structural failure, earthquakes, floods or in this case nuclear weapons. One possible scenario is that radical Islamic nations attack Israel. Then Israel strikes with nuclear missiles against Egypt and Syria. Isaiah 17:1 describes the destruction of Damascus, Syria with catastrophic results. If nuclear weapons destroys Aswan Dam, it would cause a break-induced tsunami with tens of millions dead and nuclear fallout from Lake Nassar to the Mediterranean Sea. This contaminates the Nile valley making Egypt desolate for ninety-five percent of the population. Ezekiel 38-39 describes World War IV as Russia and radical Islam (Iran, Libya, Turkey) rebel against Antichrist and fights Israel.

At the time of the end shall the king of the south [Islamic nations] push at him [Antichrist]: and the king of the north [Russia] shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over (Daniel 11:40). See Daniel 11.

Egypt History

Egypt was the first great nation and regional superpower from the time of Abraham, Moses and Solomon. Pharaohs built great cities which impacted the eastern Mediterranean. At its height, the empire ruled from Syria to Ethiopia. Abraham and Jacob traveled to Egypt during famines. Joseph went from slave to prisoner to agriculture minister feeding the region and protecting the Hebrews as they grew into a nation. After ~120 years, God delivered Israel from slavery in Egypt and they entered the Promised Land. Egypt started great then was conquered by greater powers but is destined for disaster because of Aswan.

You thought evil against me [Joseph]; but God meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive (Genesis 50:20).

Egypt and Israel follow a similar past. Both countries rose to greatness early as a nation but weakened until they were ruled by a succession of ten regional empires from Assyria to the United Kingdom. The British gave independence to Egypt in 1922 and Israel in 1948.

Modern Egypt

Egypt and Israel have a stormy past. At times, Israel ran to Egypt during famines and allied together in wars against regional superpowers. Other times, Egypt fought or enslaved the Hebrews. In the modern era, both counties fought in the 1948 Arab-Israel War, 1956 Suez Crisis, 1967 Six-Day War and 1973 Yom Kippur War. In 1979, Israel withdrew from the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt open the Suez Canal to Israeli ships as both established diplomatic relations.

In 2011, the Arab Spring began with protests and riots against governments in the Middle East. Egypt, Libya, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen overthrew leaders. Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was dictator for thirty years but in February 2011 resigned because of massive protests. In June 2012, Mohamed Morsi from the Muslim Brotherhood was the first democratic elected president in Egyptian history. However, the people removed a tyrant for an Islamic extremist. In July 2013, there was a military coup that toppled Morsi and led to the current rule of Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

Egypt Prophecy

Throughout the history of Egypt, the Nile River is the strength of the nation. Despite being a desert, seasonal rains from Ethiopia flood the banks of the river enriching the soil and filling canals to water crops. But God tell the prophet Ezekiel that Egypt is going to be judged for their pride. "This river is mine and I have made it." Satan is the red dragon (Revelation 12:3). The great river is a dragon but God puts hooks in the Nile River and brings it out of its banks flooding the land, killing the fish.

Thus says the Lord God; Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lies in the midst of his rivers, which has said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself. But I will put hooks in your jaws, and I will cause the fish of your rivers to stick to your scales, and I will bring you up out of the midst of your rivers... (Ezekiel 29:3-4).

Instead of trusting God, Israel allies with Egypt. That is like having a fragile reed as a walking stick. Egypt falls and brings Israel down with them. God judges Egypt by war, removing Israel's crutch. The land is a desert wasteland, uninhabitable for humans and animals. Then Egypt knows God is the Lord.

All the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am the Lord, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel. When they took hold of you by your hand, you did break, and rend all their shoulder: and when they leaned upon you, you broke, and [their backs were wrenched]. Therefore thus says the Lord God; Behold, I will bring a sword upon you, and cut off man and beast out of you (Ezekiel 29:6-7, 8).

God uses the river to make the land of Egypt desolate and the cities laid waste from the tower of Syene near the Sudan border in the south to the mouth of the Nile River. Syene was the largest southern town but today is called Aswan. There was no tower in Ezekiel's day. In 1970, Egypt opened the huge billion-dollar Aswan High Dam. It produces electric power and for the first time, Egypt controls the seasonal flooding and manages water reserves. The Lotus Tower is 230 feet tall and has five pillars that represents five pillars of Islam. The dam created Lake Nassar which is larger than the land area of Delaware.

Behold, I am against you, and against your rivers, and I will make the land of Egypt utterly waste and desolate, from the tower of Syene even unto the border of Ethiopia. No foot of man shall pass through it, nor foot of beast shall pass through it, neither shall it be inhabited forty years. And I will make the land of Egypt desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities among the cities that are laid waste shall be desolate forty years: and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries (Ezekiel 29:10-11, 12).
