In August, the 2016 Summer Olympics were held held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. There are thousands of athletes from 194 nations, various territories and a special refugee team. In 776 BC to 393 AD, the ancient olympics were a pagan celebration to honor Zeus. The original games were a competition of city-states held in the ancient city of Olympia in the Greek empire. During the games, there was an Olympic truce so athletes could travel safely. The winner received a crown of olive leaves.

Know you not that they which run in a race run all, but one receives the prize? So run, that you may obtain. And every man that strives for the mastery is controlled in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible crown (1 Corinthians 9:24-25).

In 1894, the modern Olympics are revived to encourages exercise and physical fitness that transforms into the premier global sporting event. The games promote athletic competition, cooperation among nations, globalization and world peace. During the Cold War, there was fierce competition between the Soviet Union and the United States. Today, the focus is toward global initiatives such as clean water, poverty and climate change. For two weeks, the nations of the world come together in the name of sport.

The nations also come together for war. The Olympics were cancelled during World War I and World War II. Some countries boycot the Olympics for political reasons. In the future, all nations will come together for a future war starting at the valley of Megiddo in northern Israel.

I will gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and [divided] my land (Joel 3:2).

He gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon (Revelation 16:16).

All nations fall and Jesus Christ reigns. Thirty days after the Second Coming is the 10th of Heshvan. On the day Noah enters the ark, all nations are judged by God (Genesis 7:7, 10-11, Daniel 12:11-12). Then Jesus Christ will rule the world. There will be a thousand years of true peace on earth.

When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.

Starting with the coronation of the King of Kings, all nations will go to Jerusalem every year to worship the King and celebrate His glorious kingdom.

Every every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles (Zechariah 14:16).
