When does the Church celebrate Pentecost? The Pharisees count fifty days from the 15th of Nisan (High Sabbath) and celebrate on the 6th of Sivan (May 16-17, 2021). The Sadducees count seven regular Sabbaths plus one day. The Church celebrates on Sunday. May 23, 2021.

Four Prophecies Fulfilled, Three Prophecies Future

Three times you shall keep a feast unto me in the year. You shall keep the feast of unleavened bread: for in it you came out from Egypt: And the feast of harvest [Weeks], the firstfruits of your labors, which you have sown in the field: and the feast of ingathering [Tabernacles], which is in the end of the year, when you have gathered in your labors out of the field (Exodus 13:14-16).

In Leviticus 23, God gave Moses seven Jewish feasts. Four holy days are linked to the exodus out of Egypt and the Law. Spring Feasts were fulfilled in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and giving of the Holy Spirit. The last three holy days are linked to the Fall Feasts. Trumpets, Atonement and Tabernacles will be fulfilled on the future return and reign of Jesus Christ.

The children of Israel were slaves in Egypt. For the 10th plague, they took a Passover lamb, ate it with unleavened bread and sprinkled the blood on the door frame. The next day, Pharaoh freed the Hebrews from bondage in Egypt. Three days later, they crossed the Red Sea. The Jews celebrated the holy days ever since their miraculous exodus.

On the tenth day of this month [Nisan, April] they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for a house: And you shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening (Exodus 12:3, 6).

Passover, Unleavened Bread and Firstfruits are three prophecies fulfilled by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We were once slaves to sin but the Lamb of God redeemed us with His precious blood. Now we are on our journey to the Promised Land.

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
Seven weeks later, is the Feast of Weeks. In fifty days, the children of Israel traveled from the Red Sea to Mt. Sinai. The whole congregation prepared themselves at the foot of the mountain. Then Moses went up to God and received the Law, God's instructions for Israel.

Even unto the day after the seventh sabbath shall you number fifty days; and you shall offer a new meat offering unto the Lord (Leviticus 23:16).

In the third month [Sivan, May/June], when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai. And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled (Exodus 19:1,16).
The Feast of Weeks is a prophecy fulfilled at Pentecost. This feast is for the Jewish and Gentile Church. On the day God gave the Law to Israel, God gave the Holy Spirit to the Church. Because of God's great salvation, we are no longer under the Law but under grace. Christians were given the Savior that fulfills the law and were given the Holy Spirit to teach all things, empower us to live the Christian life and spread the Gospel. The Church starts at Pentecost and ends at the Rapture.

When the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:1-4).

The Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26).
