Jesus Christ is the rock that strikes the feet and breaks the statue into pieces. This occurs at the end of the Tribulation at the Second Coming. All nations fall and Jesus Christ rules the earth during the Millennium and for all eternity.

And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever (Daniel 2:44).

Because of this dream, God shows Himself to the Babylon leadership, answers the four Jewish wise men's prayers who are promoted by Nebuchadnezzar to protect the Jewish captives. Then He reveals 3600 years of history and God alone gets all the glory.

The king answered Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing you could reveal this secret. Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon. Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king (Daniel 2:47-48, 49).

Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, had a dream and could not sleep. He summoned the wise men. They said tells us the dream and we will tells you the interpretation. After the king told the dream, his advisors could devise any interpretation. However, the king did not remember. Since this was early in his reign, many of these men were his father's advisors. This was a good test to prove whether they were worthy to serve the king. He demanded the wise men tell him the dream or die.

In the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, where his spirit was troubled, and his sleep broke from him. Then the king commanded to call the magicians, astrologers, sorcerers, and Chaldeans, to show the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king. They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation of it. The king answered and said, I know of certainty that you would gain the time, because you see the thing is gone from me (Daniel 2:1-2, 7-8)
Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah were wise men captured from Judah. So Daniel asked Arioch, the captain of the king's guard, about the decree. He went to the king and asked for more time and he would tell the king the dream. Then Daniel asked his three friends to pray for God's mercy. The wise men said no one could tell the dream except the gods but God chose to dwell with humanity (Daniel 2:11). That night, the dream was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel went to Arioch who sent him to the king. Daniel did not take credit but gave all glory to God for revealing the dream.

Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: And he changes the times and the seasons: he removes kings, and sets up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding. The secret which the king has demanded, the wise men, astrologers, magicians, soothsayers cannot show unto the king; But there is a God in heaven that reveals secrets, and makes known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days (Daniel 2:20-21, 27-28).

In the dream, Nebuchadnezzar saw a great statue with a head of gold, chest and arms of silver, stomach and thighs of brass, legs of iron and feet of iron and clay. The stone broke the statue into pieces and then the gold, silver, bronze, iron and clay blew away with the wind. The stone grew into a mountain that filled the earth.

This image's head was of fine gold, his chest and arms of silver, his stomach and thighs of brass, His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay. You saw until a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and broke them to pieces. (Daniel 2:32-34).

Daniel gives the interpretation. Babylon is the head of gold, the current superpower followed by four progressively weaker empires that rule over the nation of Israel. From history, Media-Persia is the chest and arms of silver, Greece is the stomach and thighs of brass (Daniel 8:20-21). Rome is the legs of iron. Media and Persia merger into one kingdom but Rome divides in two.

You, O king, are a king of kings: for the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. And after you shall arise another kingdom inferior to you, and third kingdom of brass, which shall rule over all the earth. And fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron (Daniel 2:37, 39-40).

Nebuchadnezzar's Dream
The last kingdom is iron and clay feet during the latter days. This is still future and happens during the Tribulation. The iron and clay are a mix of strong and weak nations that do not stick together. Since Rome is iron, this empire comes from the Mediterranean region as a weak revived Roman empire. The ten toes correlate to the ten horns or kings (Daniel 7:24, Revelation 13:2). These ten king give power to the Antichrist (Revelation 17:12-13).

As the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. And you saw iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay (Daniel 2:42-43).
