Constellations: The Heavens Declare the Glory of God
November-December 2022
Path of the Sun through the constellations - September 2017
Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo

Bible prophecy is the study of God's Word. God created the Sun, Moon and stars for signs, seasons, days and years (Genesis 1:14). Astronomy is the study of the physical universe. The Hebrew word mazzaroth is constellations. As seen from Earth, the Sun passes through twelve constellations (Job 38:32).

God told His story of redemption in the stars to people before the flood. Then Astrology corrupted the story. Here is an overview of the twelve constellations of the ecliptic, some key stars that form the constellations and thirty-six related decan constellations that reinforce the story. Some Jewish holy days are written in the sky and tell of the Redeemer, redeemed and return.

The heavens declare the glory of God… (Psalm 19:1).

Astronomy is the study of the physical universe. As seen from Earth, the Sun passes through twelve constellations. God told His story of redemption in the stars to people before the flood. Then Astrology corrupted that story. Here is an overview of the twelve constellations of the ecliptic, a few key stars that form the constellations and thirty-six related decan constellations that reinforce the story.
Constellations: Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius

The Redeemer (First Coming)

Virgo is the Virgin holding wheat (Spica) and branch (Tsemech) in autumn. Mary gave birth to Jesus and Israel gave birth to the Church (Isaiah 7:14). The decans are Coma, (woman with infant/Desired One), Centaurus (dart piercing a victim) and Bootes, (Great Shepherd, Harvester). Every Jewish civil new year on Trumpets, the woman is clothed with the Sun, the Moon at her feet and nine stars are in her crown. On September 23, 2017, the Revelation 12 sign was fulfilled in the heavens with three additional wandering stars: Mercury, Venus, Mars. Jupiter moved forward and back in retrograde motion in Virgo's womb about forty weeks as Saturn (Satan) lies in wait near Scorpio (Revelation 12:1-2, 3-4, 5-6).

Throughout the year, the stars tell the story of Jewish feasts. During the month of Tishri, the Moon is in Virgo on Trumpets, Aquarius (water bearer/pouring wrath) on Atonement, Aries (ram) on Tabernacles and Cancer (sheep pen) on the 8th Day (Leviticus 23:36).

Libra
is balancing scales, a symbol of justice and judgment (Daniel 5:27). The brightest star in the lower scale is Zuben al Genubi, the price which is deficient. The brightest star in the upper scale is Zuben al Shemali, the price which covers (1 Corinthians 6:20). The decans are Crux (cross), Lupus (victim, pierced to death), Corona (crown). At Jesus Christ's first coming, He wore a crown of thorns but at His second coming, He wears many crowns (Matthew 27:29, Revelation 19:12).

Scorpio
is the scorpion, a symbol for Satan, the adversary (Genesis 3:1). The brightest star is Antares, the wounding. There are many forms of serpent constellations: Draco, Medusa's head, Hydra, Scorpio, Serpens. The decans are Serpens (serpent), Ophiuchus (wrestling with the serpent) and Hercules, (mighty man). While the scorpion attacks Ophiuchus' foot, he crushes the serpent's head (Genesis 3:15).

Sagittarius
is the archer. As a centaur, he has a duel nature of a sacrificial animal and conquering king (Revelation 5:5, 6). The decans are Lyra (harp), Ara (alter) and Draco (dragon cast down). The archer aims for Antares, the wounded heart of Scorpio. By defeating the dragon, Jesus Christ is victorious and deserves our praise. On Hanukkah, the Sun is in Sagittarius (archer) and the Moon is in Libra (scales).
Constellations: Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries

The Redeemed

Capricorn is the goat fish. A goat is sacrificed on Atonement  (Yom Kippur) (Hebrews 9:11-12). The fish is a symbol of believers. Combined together, they are Christ and His Church (Romans 12:4-5). The decans are Sagitta (arrow), Aquila (falen eagle) and Delphinus (dolphin). Because of the arrow, the goat/eagle dies but the fish receives eternal life (Romans 5:21).

Aquarius is the water bearer. Jesus is the living water (John 4:14, John 7:37-38). The decans are Picus Australis (southern fish), Pegasus (winged horse) and Chygnus (swan). The fish drinks from the water. The Pegasus star Enif means "If I go away I will come again" (John 14:3). Believers receive the living water but during the Tribulation, the rebellious drink the wrath of God (Revelation 14:19). Jesus and his followers return on horses (Revelation 19:11, 14).

Constellations: Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo

The Return (Second Coming)

Taurus is the bull. The Deliverer rescues His people and reigns on the earth (Revelation 11:15). The star at the point of the left horn is El Nath (wounded or slain). The brightest star in the bull's eye is Al Debaran (leader). The decans are Orion (glorious Prince), Eridanus (river of the judge, Hades) and Auriga (Shepherd). Jesus Christ is the Prince who judges the dead and the Shepherd who restores believers (Revelation 21:5).

Gemini
is the twins. Jesus Christ dual purpose was to come as a suffering servant and then return as King of Kings (Hebrews 9:28). The brightest stars are Castor (coming quickly) who is mortal and Pollux (ruler or judge) who is divine. The ship which took Paul from Malta to Puteoli was named Castor and Pollux (Acts 28:11). The decans are Lepus (hare, enemy of Him that comes), Canis Major (great dog) and Canis Minor (second dog). Sirius (Prince) in the great dog is the brightest star in the sky and Procyon (Redeemer) is the star in the little dog. On the 17th of Tamuz (Golden Calf), the Sun is in Gemini and Moon is in Aquarius.

Cancer
is the crab but was originally a sheep's pen (John 10:14-16). Dohver in Hebrew is fold not bear. The star Sartan is who holds, who binds, Praesepe is a cluster of stars meaning multitude or offspring, Tegmine is holding and Acubene is sheltering, hiding place. The decans are Ursa Minor (little sheepfold), Ursa Major (greater sheepfold) and Argo, (ship). God promised Abraham that his descendants will be numerous as the stars in the sky (Genesis 22:17-18). Polaris is the north star in the little fold. Noah's ark persevered creation from the flood so this ship preserves believers from the fire (2 Peter 3:6-7). God prepared a place of rest for Israel and Christian believers (John 14:1-3). On the 9th of Av (Kadesh Barnea), the Sun is in Cancer and Moon is in Sagittarius.

Leo is the Lion. Jesus Christ is seen in many of these constellations but above all, He is the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the King of Kings (Revelation 5:5, 19:16). The star Regulus is the king star (ruler, treading under foot) and Al Giebha (exaltation). The decans are Hydra (fleeing serpent), Crater, (cup of wrath) and Corvus (raven, bird of doom). The King conquers the serpent, pours out the cup of wrath and birds are called to a great feast  (Revelation 20:10, Revelation 14:9-10, Revelation 19:17). On the 1st of Elul (Teshuvah) the Sun is in Leo and Moon is in Virgo.

Jewish tradition says Adam was born on Trumpets. Following the Christmas Story, Jesus was conceived on Hanukkah and born on Trumpets. On September 11, 3 BC (1st of Tishri), the Sun is in Virgo, the Moon is at her feet and the king planet Jupiter is in conjunction with the king star Regulus in the king constellation Leo.

Pisces is the two fish in the spring. Since the beginning of the Church Age, the fish is a symbol of believers (Matthew 4:19). The upward fish is the Church and the lower fish is Israel. The decans are Band, Adromeda (woman in chains) and Cepheus (crowned king). The two fish are bound together and held by Aries, the ram. We are in chains until the king frees us from our sins (Galatians 5:1). On the 1st of Nisan, (religious new year), the Sun is in Pisces, the Moon is in Aries (ram) and the star Spica (wheat/barley) in Virgo rises in the east. Every year during the Spring Feasts, the Sun is in Pisces and the Moon is in Libra (judgment), Scorpio (death), Ophiuchus (resurrection).

Aries

When God made the universe, He set the stars in place and wrote the Gospel story in the sky (Redeemer, the redeemed and the return). Those in Christ are a part of the story of Emanuel, God with us.

I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God (Revelation 21:3).
